Still O-Beast… October 18, 2006 at 11:04 am

I’ve been feeling ill again. After last week’s awesome workouts it is kind of a bummer to be feeling sick. I was a little dizzy during part of my workout this morning and I wasn’t fully able to push myself at the level I wanted. My belief is that this isn’t a response to food. Given the bucket of mucus that was expelled from my nose this morning I know my body is responding to something. Yick.

It is likely to ~just~ be a cold. It is much better to be a simple cold than the full fledged flu or worse. I should live.

A couple of weeks ago I purchased some size 38 pants. I purposely bought them to be a little snug because I knew that I was on my way down. They are loose. Nothing like the size 44’s they replaced, but nicely requiring a belt. Given how much my body has shed with respect to my girth I am a little surprised at that. I ~STILL~ have at LEAST 70 or so more pounds to go. According to the “charts” I should be under 183 to be in the “normal” weight for my height. Currently I am still o-beast. 😉

I don’t know what my body is going to do when I get lower. The last time (12 years ago) that I was down in the 210 range that was my plateau. It didn’t matter what I did at that time given the “diet” I was on my body simply refused to go any lower. A lot has changed in the intervening years AND this program is MUCH more realistic than the “program” I cobbled together. I still have a ways to go before I get to THAT point.

My overall mental “strategy” is that I expect to shed 3 pounds a week (on average) between now and the end of Phase 1. Then my mental estimate is that I will shed 2 pounds a week during the 24 weeks of Phase 2. With that in mind I should be at about 240 by December and 216ish by March. I don’t think it is possible to continue with the 5.5 pound a week average for much longer. Having said that my doctor and dietician think it is possible for me to hit the -100 mark by the end of phase one. To hit that I would need to average about 4.5 – 4.8 pounds a week. While it would be cool to hit that number (228) by the end of Phase 1, I really don’t think it is likely. I’ve been wrong in the past I am certainly going to be wrong in the future.

I think my Monday weight was 273 for the 10 week review. I will know next week on Monday if that is truly the case. It might be 274. In any case the delta in weight loss between weeks 1-5 and weeks 6-10 would only be about two pounds. Does this pattern repeat? 28+27+26+25 = 106? Is that real? Tune in next month to find out!

One other note before I finish. I am one the 20 week version of the program. My all of my numbers reflect that and the required 12 week maintenance for my insurance benefit to kick in. Most of the people in my group are either on the 10 week or 15 week versions of the program. Weight loss will vary greatly from person to person based on so many factors that it is nearly impossible to predict who will have an easy time and who will have it hard. Don’t think that my numbers will match YOUR numbers. Even if you attempted to do the program exactly as I did the program it is not likely to work the same for you. This ain’t no one size fits all plan. The program is tailored to each individuals requirements!
