Colorado Ski Week December 29, 2007 at 1:34 pm

Over the Christmas holiday I spent some time in Colorado with a good friend skiing.  The skiing was incredible!  I grew up in Colorado, but only started skiing after I moved to Arizona.  Go figure!

During the week we went to Keystone twice, Winter Park and Copper Mountain.  The four days of skiing was some of the best I’ve had.  Each day was actually BETTER than the last from a weather standpoint.  Our plans to go on Christmas day were aborted because of a snow storm, but after changing things around a little, the day AFTER Christmas was phenomenal.  Not only was the weather perfect, but the slopes were fairly clear.  The longest wait for a lift was something like 1 minute.

After skiing on the 26th we went to Casa Bonita.  The first time I went to this restaurant was in the late seventies and I hadn’t been back in at least 15 years.  It is amazing how some things never seem to change.  Not only was the place still in business (thanks South Park!), but everything was nearly identical to how I remembered.  Theme places like this could have been run-down, but the place was still in good repair and still a lot of fun.  Even if I look at it from the perspective of an adult, it is a decent place to go.  Kids definitely have MORE fun, but adults can enjoy it too.

The morning I left for Colorado I weighed in at 202.4 pounds.  I knew that my diet wouldn’t be optimal during the trip so that number wasn’t going to be permanent.  Today I was at 206.8.  Not bad after a week of not paying too much attention to my diet.  I’ll have to watch what I consume over the next few weeks, but I know what I need to do so it isn’t a huge deal.  :)
