Earth Day 2008 April 22, 2008 at 7:58 am

Today is Earth Day.  The funny thing about my greenness is that it is mostly a by product of other afflictions of mine.  An example is the fact that I bicycle into work most days.  My reasons for this are not really rooted in protecting the environment.  It is more about me wanting to stay out of the gym as much as possible.  I can’t even claim that my cycling is to save money on gas!  I drive a hybrid.  That purchase wasn’t as much about saving on fuel or emissions as it was about the cool technology involved.  D’oh!  I just have to be honest about my motivations.  The byproduct of those motivations is a good thing.  I get to be very smug around work.  I don’t have to worry about parking and in the summer I can actually ride home quicker than someone driving the same route.

It has been awhile from the last time I wrote about my 20/20 odyssey.  Where do I stand?  Today I was around 217 on my scale at home.  The lowest I have seen is 202 just before the end of 2007.  These last few months have been fairly hard on my diet and the only thing that has kept my weight gain in check has been my commute to and from work on my bicycle.  Yes, most days I ride rain or shine.  It is only unpleasant during the heavier rains.  Besides, the reality of the matter is that I would be soaked even if it wasn’t raining.  I sweat.  A Lot.  Fenders take care of the worst of it.

Not much else going on.
