As my time in the 20/20 Lifestyles Program comes to an end, keeping my level of fitness high and continuing to make progress has become a much more important focus in my life. To that end, I have already made one commitment and I have begun to mold my continuing strategy for this summer.

I have enjoyed the rides that I have done over the last few weekends. I’ve been toying around with setting some goals and while I have already set a fairly lofty goal of doing the Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic this year in July, I’ve been wondering what goal I want to set for beyond July. There is a good chance I will be going to Tucson AZ for the Tour de Tucson in November, but that leaves a large number of months in between. Granted riding in the PNW is beautiful during the summer, but I have still been toying with some other ideas.

Without committing to anything just yet, I am starting to think that I would REALLY love to do Americas Most Beautiful Ride. This is in early June. That still leaves August, September and maybe even October for riding. I have not fully decided to make the commitment formal, but I am leaning towards doing at least a century ride every month in June, July, August, and September.

I have a ways to go before I am ready for 100 miles in a day, but I am already at least 40% there. I will try to write more as the ideas ferment in my mind. For now, I am just happy that the mountains are getting more snow. I was a little worried that the ski season would end a little too early.
